iPhone Hax: Jersey Kid runs iPhone on TMobile
A jersey kid by the name of George Hotz has successfully unlocked the iPhone from AT&T's and gotten it to run on the TMobile network.
It all works with the exception of the visual voicemail feature. This opens up the possibilty of getting the iPhone to work overseas long before Apple releases the phone to the European markets.
George runs a step-by-step of how to do this on his blog: http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/
The iPhone George hacked is also available on eBay.

iPhone Hax: iActivator released (Easy Jailbreak)
To really start modding your phone you'll need to remove the read-only mode Apple has placed the phone in. Once you do this, you can add third party apps or even unlock the phone without a contract from AT&T. (Gives you a wireless capable iPod basically).
To do all this you need Jailbreak - and just released we have a more user-friendly version so you don't have to go digging through hacker forums and long sets of instructions to use it.
I haven't done this yet - but here's the original article over at iphoneworld. iActivator is for mac users only at this time.
Get outta jail and you can even play Doom on your iPhone! =)

iPhone Games: Coming soon? Very soon?!
Some folks over at Download Squad found some interesting strings in the iTunes code:
/* ===== iPhone Game Item Strings ===== */
"4329.001" = "Are you sure you want to remove the selected game from your iPhone?";
"4329.002" = "Are you sure you want to remove the selected games from your iPhone?";
Seems there is some prep work already incorporated into iTunes for the release of the games.... it's not only a matter of time.
Being a subway rider - I find it to be incredibly annoying that I can't play games on my iPhone. It's probably the one drawback that really gets to me... I mean I can only come up with so many emails to pre-compose in the notes app!

iPhone WTF: Get your Thumbs Sharpened
Sharpening your thumbs via plastic surgery is the newest rage. Why? So you can type better on the iPhone keyboard!
.....
Just kidding. Although some sources ran this story as true over the weekend. Even in the days of the internets, you just can't believe everything you read, even at trusted sources.
What's really funny is that so many of the commenters @ Engadget seemed to have believed it.
Personally, I have no real issues with typing on the keyboard other than that the spell checker gets annoying in some cases. When I'm typing an email or a note it's usually fine. I have to watch for it changing "FOR" to "GOT" but it's really solid for the most part. When typing things that aren't real words or sentances it becomes a pain... never do the size of thumbs enter into the minor frustration, however.
What do you think of the typing?

iPhone Update: Version 1.0.1 is here! Run hackers, run!
I didn't expect it so soon... I would have guessed another week or so but the first iPhone update is here. Just after the news broke that haxorz may try to pwn your phone, Apple went ahead and did exactly what we knew they'd do... they fixed it. So head on into iTunes and download the 1.0.1 iPhone update and sleep soundly once again.It took a little longer than I expected for it to actually update and seemed to hang a bit in the middle... but all is good now and the phone appears to be fine and hacker safe.
